5 Questions with the Founder of Covered Girl!

After the success of our Ramadan Giveaway with Covered Girl, I thought I’d ask founder and designer of the company, Aisha, a little about herself and her brand. I always love to know more about the amazing women behind successful businesses, so read on for more about what Covered Girl is all about. The short question/answer session I had with Aisha is peppered with my favorite picks from her Fall 2012 collection along with details about a free shipping perk for a limited time!

Who’s the woman behind the brand? Tell me a little about yourself so that my readers can get an idea about who you are. What made you want to start Covered Girl?

My name is Aisha and I am a 24 year old Palestinian American, born and raised in Michigan. Ever since I can remember, I’ve had a passion for design and have always searched for a meaningful outlet. Being a muhajibah (woman who covers) from a younger age, I realized that I could make that difference by promoting the beauty that is Hijab.  I started practicing on my sisters, and experimenting with patterns and fabrics.  From the feedback that I was receiving, I knew this was what I was meant to do.  Quite frankly, I love fashion.  I love taking risks and experimenting with colors and patterns.  By promoting styles in the most modest yet fashion forward way, Covered Girl is created to not only strengthen the pride of current muhajibas but encourage those that are not covered to explore the possibility.

How did you come up with the name? Growing up in America we were always described as the “covered girls”, what better time than now to own that label.

Do you sell Hijab’s that you don’t design? Yes we will be selling Scarves and Wraps that are handpicked called “Covered Girl Picks” on our website.
