For his Fall 2012 show, Oscar de la Renta had the models decked out in gorgeous headpieces and jeweled headbands. This look is perfect to wear over your hair or hijab. I love this look so much I thought I’d show you how you might be able to replicate it. You can buy beautiful jeweled headbands from Deepa Gurnani, or these from Hijabista (above).
In the same show, my second favorite look were these headpieces that looked like satin ribbon with a brooch pinned to the front. This would be a great look for a party or a wedding to wear over your hijab.

Although you could always buy an actual Oscar de la Renta headband or brooch, which would cost you upward of $400, making your own would be way cheaper! All you need is ribbon, a crystal brooch or a crystal piece which you can glue to the ribbon instead of pin, and maybe some elastic. You can always pin the headband to the back of your neck or scarf, or you could sew a small piece of elastic onto both ends. Don’t forget to scrunch the front of the ribbon with your brooch so the look isn’t too perfect!

What are you favorite headband looks and would you try this DIY?
