Every modest dresser, scratch that, every woman should have these 4 basics in their wardrobe at all times. Extremely versatile and always in style, these are pieces that will work with virtually every item of clothing you already own.
Long Sleeve Blouse
We all know about the tight long sleeved tops all modest dressers must own, my favorites coming from F21 and H&M, but that’s not what I’m talking about here. A loose-ish, but still fitted blouse in a silky material can be worn over skirts, pants, dresses, and under jackets and blazers.
Light Trench Coat
This is to be worn on cool summer nights and cold fall days. In the fall with layers like a chunky sweater, arms scrunched up for that perfectly insouciant look. In the summer with a simple tee. This is a great cover up without looking like you’re trying to cover up.
Slim Pants
I’m not a fan of skinny jeans/jeggings (barf)/tights on myself. I don’t find them “modest” enough for me personally to wear out. I do however, love love love a slim cut pant. Preferably one that stops below the ankle. Not quite cropped, but not touching the ground either. Perfect for wearing under a tunic or even a shift dress.
Tube Skirt
I’ve had a love affair with maxi dresses, and in the summer, there’s nothing like them. But here, my focus is on the maxi skirt. In particular, the ones that are more fitted at the hips and loosen on the way down. The cut is straight up and down, and although they don’t sound particularly modest, I love them to wear with longer and looser tops, blouses or tunics. Especially a cute hi-low blouse. These can also be worn under short dresses.
Anything in particular you’d like to add to this list?
