Top 6 | Spring 2013 Trends

Ruffle

The Balenciaga ruffles seen around the world. Yes, this season the ruffle is bold, take charge, unapologetic. Feminine yes, but less girly, more grown up.
Look for: The updated peplum

Sheer

The sheer jacket seen at both Reed Krakoff and Nina Ricci are a different incarnation of the whole nude sheer thing that’s been going on the last few seasons. It’s less overtly sexy and more of a sophisticated take on the peekaboo.
Look for: Organza and chiffon overlays.

Suits

Monochromatic suits- the pant, shirt, and jacket all in the same color. Patterned suits with matching pants and jacket do the trick just as well. Not as crazy colorful as season’s past, the suit you need now is more refined.
Look for: Tops and bottoms in the same color/print

Color

Emerald green is THE color for spring. Then again, every color is THE color come spring. So long as they’re bright.
Look for: Bold and bright

Black and White

Black is not always the color of spring, but worn with white, the whole looks is bright enough for day. Of course, perfectly placed black stripes and panels are so very figure friendly.
Look for: Black to minimize, white to show off your best assets

Stripes

Stripes are stripes are stripes right? Pretty simple stuff. This time around look for stripes of varying width, sometimes within the same piece (like the Marc Jacobs above), or cut vertically, horizontally or rounded. Or, go classic like this Kors top.
Look for: An unexpected stripe

Well there you have it! My top favorite trends for Spring 2013. Although if they’re happening season after season they’re not necessarily trends, they’re a little more classic at that point!
Any favorites, or have some you’d like to add? Do you get sick of seeing some of the same “trends” all the time, or are you that girl breathlessly awaiting the next one? I would love to read your comments and thoughts!

Salam Asma. Your TREND report deliver a full coverage for this spring summer 2013.

My favorite trend is definitely the monochrome suit, since I am very fond of the masculine look.

    God bless you.

Thank you, I worked on it for a few days to make sure I found my favorites!
I’m a huge fan of the menswear look too, it’s so laid back and hard to do it wrong.

Honestly, I’m loving every single one of these trends. The sheer coat is such a cool and adoptable take on sheer, stripes and b&w are killing me, and suits have never looks so good.

Nida! Your comment is killing me, thank you for stopping by and leaving it! Yes, the sheer coat thing feel so fresh and new, although I’m not sure I’d be able to pull it off. As for the rest of the trends listed, I’m planning on rocking them all this spring.
