The Unglamorous World
There are days when I just want to throw my hands in the air. Not to party like I just don’t care, but because I just want to give up. When I began blogging, I just had my son who was almost a year old, and blogging with a child that young was hard enough. Now that I’ve been blessed with two kids (Alhamdulillah) it’s even harder. My nights are spent listening for coughs, checking for pee, cleaning up vomit, nursing the baby, burping the baby, changing the baby, with my husband and I switching between both kids throughout the night. My days are, thank goodness, a little less eventful when my son attends Preschool for part of the day. Those are the days I catch up on laundry, vacuuming, cleaning the bathrooms, and trying to cook a meal for the family. In between all of this fun is when I squeak out time to write. Although most days I spend about 4 hours total blogging, researching, writing for 3abaya.com, and improvements to the web page itself, there are some days I can spend upward of 6 hours on a single post! It’s absolutely worth it to me (most of the time)…
The Sort-of Glamorous World
I’m a stay at home mom and this is my life. Well, part of it. The other part is the writing and blogging. It’s my job. I get paid for what I do, albeit not much. It’s enough to put back into the blog for improvements and help pay for conferencing trips. I get to meet celebrities like the Kardashians and Jessica Alba, talk to them and get photos with them. I get to attend private parties with celebrities like Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor and Tracy Morgan. I meet the celebrity elite of the fashion world, like The Glamourai, The Man Repeller, Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg (From me to You), editors of fashion magazines, and designers like Zac Posen and Diane Von Furstenberg. Staying at amazing hotels in LA and NYC for fashion events, conferences and parties is all part of the package. (This is the fun part in case you couldn’t tell).
