Or, Why You Don’t See My Face
If you’re new to the blog, you’re probably wondering why you never really see photos of my face. And yes, this is totally on purpose. The reason is, I just don’t feel comfortable putting myself out there on the internetz. At this point you may even be asking yourself why I even bother blogging in the first place. I mean, after all, it’s not like I’m not writing about personal stuff every once in a while.
The reality is that it can actually get awkward either way. When people don’t see me on my own blog, it can sometimes turn people off. I find this difficult, because I know that if I posted a photo of myself, or even photos of myself with celebrities like those mentioned here, I’m sure I’d get so many more people who are interested in learning more about how a hijabi like myself came to be hobnobbing with these fine folks. But I don’t. I truly feel that it would be going against who I am, as hard to understand as that might be.
On the other hand, there are other more understandable reasons why you don’t see photos of my face. I’ve had random folks take my photo and use them as their personal facebook profile photos. Which is so creepy. And there are a whole bunch of random weirdo guys out there as well. Another blogger who explains why she doesn’t show her face (for reasons very similar to mine) is Miss Hijabi.
